Alex Gueorguieva Receives the Elsie Taylor Stocking Fellowship in Plant Physiology

Congratulations to PhD candidate Alex Gueorguieva for receiving the Elsie Taylor Stocking Fellowship in Plant Physiology for her exceptional achievements in research. In addition to funding her future research, this award grants Alex with the opportunity to present her work at the Annual Celebration of Plant Biology. Alex is studying the biosynthetic pathways of anti-cancer diterpenoids Taxol, Pseudolaric Acid B, Cafestol, and Kahweol in medicinal plants like the pacific yew and golden larch trees and coffee. By characterizing the enzymes needed to make these diterpenoids, she hopes to advance the engineering of natural plant products. About the award, Alex says: "I am super grateful to the Stocking Fellowship as the financial support provided by this award will enable me to attend conferences like PSNA and expand my professional network!"
